Every class taken by the community helps our mission to support and bring together kids and Evanston law enforcement. In addition to fitness and martial arts programs open to all comers, we are also dedicated to offering classes to underserved populations in Evanston/Skokie, Chicago, and the North Shore. We offer classes tailored for women interested in empowering themselves and improving fitness by learning self-defense, individuals in wheelchairs who want to improve their fitness through strength training and boxing, and individuals with Parkinson's who can use fitness and boxing classes to strengthen their bodies and minds.
Feel Empowered! You’ll learn the basics of kickboxing and self-defense in a fun and safe setting for a functional and complete full body workout. Workouts will include upper and lower body striking, defense against grabs and holds, fitness movements to improve strength and mobility, and drills to keep your wits sharp and the classes fresh.
Get Stronger! If you use a wheelchair, and are interested in a fun, functional, and dynamic workout, these classes are for you. We’ll focus on muscles of the midsection, the chest, the back, the shoulders, and the arms to give you a complete and stimulating upper body workout with the goals of building strength, increasing mobility, and improving body composition.
Stay Sharp! Boxing and exercise have been clinically shown to improve blood flow to the brain, improve focus, and lessen the decline of a number of neurological issues, including Parkinson's - not to mention they are tons of fun and a great way to reduce stress and build muscular and cardiovascular strength and endurance. We’ll make use of a wide range of equipment and techniques to help keep you fit, help keep you sharp, and help you maintain your spark.
Get Fit! and get ready to have fun as you learn boxing technique, build your cardiovascular endurance, and get a dynamic full body workout. We'll make use of the heavy bag, double ended bag, and focus mitts to build your strength, endurance, and agility while teaching you the basics of footwork, distance management, and evasion.
